3) you will never see anyone behind the service counter so that is why I can never by lottery from there.
I don't find the staff overly helpful or even friendly.
1) bathrooms are always hideous to the point that I would use a portapot first!
This is the best Safeway in Dunkirk but I had to take off one star because it is not a Wegmans.
2) Management would rather you use the self checkout before spending money on a real checker no matter how long the lines. Now why wont I use the self checkout? Because it is the worst system ever. 100% of the time it will require an employee to fix it only to need them again.
Time to be honest: The good!
Good store, but sometimes the fruit selection/ quality can be sub-par. They are also sensitive to long register lines and will supplement cashiers with people from other departments.
I always prefer Safeway over Giant especially for the quality of meat but it's slowly going down hill over the past year with what seems to be management change. Most of the staff are not friendly and seem to go out of their way to avoid making contact with you. I went to use the water fountain last week and it was disgusting. Looks like it hasn't been cleaned in quite some time. The rollers in the dairy (milk) cooler are caked up with filth and looks as though nobody has cleaned them in some time as well. Nearly everyone working there seem to be thinking of something other than making it a pleasant experience with shopping there. I overhear more and more people complaining about the Dunkirk Safeway and look for that store to close if major changes don't take place.
